The automotive service managers is a coveted post to have in the automotive industry. There is a constant requirement of eligible candidates to fill in this position. Companies select people from a variety of backgrounds for this post. It is not always restricted to business graduates or automotive technicians. He/She is solely responsible for the efficient working of the entire system. The duties encompass hiring the staff (both office and sales staff) at the dealership and also overseeing their training. Next the ASM must have knowledge of the finances of the shop, so as to be able to conduct internal audits and checks.

Beyond this he/she must also oversee the ordering and stocking of products and their maintenance in the premises. All back office works of record keeping and management are also under the purview of the ASM.

Apart from the maintenance, upkeep and running of the office, the ASM also requires being knowledgeable regarding the safety measures and regulations in place for all commercial establishments. Policies and dictums regarding the sale of cars to individuals must also be known by the ASM.

An automotive service managers at car dealerships has to deal with enormous amounts of responsibilities and duties. The various companies also offer a wide range of incentives and perks to the automotive service management.
