Xbox 360 – Lengthen The Life Of Your Console With Proper Care

Recently purchased an Xbox 360? It may be a good idea to think about getting as much life out of your console as you possibly can. If your Xbox has the Jasper chip set, then there shouldn’t be any troubles with overheating.

But overheating isn’t the only thing that you need to address. If you’ve experienced overheating problems before with your console then proper care and maintenance is probably a bigger priority for you now. The following is a list of some proper maintenance and care tips:

1.) Don’t toss out the box. If you ever need to ship your console, then putting it in the original box will safeguard it from damage. You’ll avoid the work of looking for the right box and trying to pack everything in correctly.

2.) Many people will put game cases and other things on the console. This is very handy but can be harmful. There is a tendency for the console to get overheated after several hours of play.

Anything that is placed on the consoles top prevents proper cooling. Also remember that your Xbox should only be used in an area with adequate ventilation. Don’t use it next to heat sources including direct exposure to the sun.

3.) Use an entertainment center that is open on all of its sides. This ensures that there will be adequate ventilation in order to avoid heat problems.

4.) Here’s a suggestion that’s probably obvious but can cause problems if ignored. Don’t allow cables and wires to get spread out over the floor whether they be power cables or controller wires. People and your pet may trip on them and yank the console to the floor.

5.) Keep the area next to the console clean and free of grit and dust. The cooling vents may draw in the dust which can degrade the consoles cooling system.

6.) If you’re into modding, remember that your warranty will be voided once the console is opened. The warranty might not matter now, but they do come in handy should you get the red ring of death.
